Denver, North Carolina · Lincoln County

Denver web design and local search, staked out for the west shore.

Websites and local search work for the shops, trades and lake businesses of Denver, NC: the Lincoln County side of Lake Norman, strung along NC 16 from the Catawba County line down toward Cowans Ford. Each site is coded by hand, loads quickly on a phone and belongs to you once it's paid for.

  • Hand-coded, no page builder
  • Build prices published
  • You own the finished site

The name problem

There are two Denvers. Google has to know which one you mean.

When someone searches "Denver electrician" from a phone on Old 16, Google usually sorts it out from where they're standing. When the search comes from a laptop in Charlotte, a voice assistant, or a relative two states away, the Colorado capital tends to take over the results. It had a head start: this town borrowed its name from it in 1873.

A Denver, NC business has to say where it is more plainly than a business in a town with a one-of-a-kind name. That is one of the first things our local SEO for Denver and every new website takes care of.

  • "Denver, NC" in the places search engines read first: page titles, the main heading and the opening lines.
  • Structured data naming the state, Lincoln County and the 28037 ZIP code.
  • Local anchors customers recognize: NC 16 Business, NC 73, Lake Norman, East Lincoln.
  • A Google Business Profile whose address and service area agree with the website, kept in order with our profile playbook.

From Dry Pond to Denver

This town's first rebrand was a marketing call.

Until 1873 the place was called Dry Pond, after a small pond near today's corner of Highway 16 Business and Campground Road that disappeared every summer. D. Matt Thompson, headmaster of Rock Springs Academy, led the push to rename it for the capital of the Colorado territory, hoping a bigger name would help attract a railroad spur.

The railroad went elsewhere, and the town chartered in 1877 gave up that charter in 1971. What finally changed Denver was water. In 1962 Duke Power built Cowans Ford Dam, the Catawba River bottoms filled in, and weekend lake cabins slowly turned into year-round homes for people who work in Charlotte, 25 miles south.

Thompson had the right instinct: a name only helps if people can find you by it. Helping Denver businesses get found is the whole job, and the about page explains who does it.

Plat notes: common questions

Note 1Is this Denver, Colorado?

No. We work with businesses in Denver, North Carolina: the unincorporated community in Lincoln County on the west side of Lake Norman, ZIP code 28037. If you landed here looking for Colorado, you have just watched the exact problem our local SEO work is built to fix.

Note 2Where is your office?

Across the lake in Mooresville, on the Iredell County side. Most projects run on phone calls, email and screen sharing. When sitting down together would help, Roger drives over.

Note 3Who owns the website when it's done?

Your business does. The domain, the pages, the words and the pictures are yours. We host it for you on a care plan, but you are never locked in.

Note 4Is it built on WordPress or a template?

Neither. Each site is written by hand in plain code, starting from an empty file, so there is no page builder underneath slowing it down on a phone.
